To access your settings (and change speaker volume): Right-click your username in the upper-right corner of your screen, on the toolbar. Restore app list items I'm using a Samsung Galaxy i5510. You can find these settings by pressing the volume rocker on your phone. But if I may be so bold, this might be a good opportunity to return to stock and take the plunge to fp1. First I thought that was the cause of the problem, because the AHCI driver had the same IRQ number like the x-fi. Its a better build over ep4 that your on IMO. Here is what it looks like: Then I need to reinstall the drivers to get the sound back. Also did the shortcuts from my desktops. Right-click on "Sound" and change your sound settings as needed. I was using the latest official Creative drivers when this started, then I tried the XFI Support Pack by Daniel K, and currently I'm using PAX drivers, but no luck. There is an "Other" tab with more settings--I'm posting the link to a blog with more information about how to access this tab. I would really aprieciate some help. Is the rest of your SD card readable? In many cases, the Home screen will refresh and the icon(s) will return. There are a few reasons this happens. I was thinking and thinking and thinking what the hell did I do to provoke this. When I check in the Volume Mixer there is no Speakers, only the SPDIF Out and the Internal AUX Jack appears. So this is just your non factory notifications correct? When i try and look for a better one it sais that there is no better one than already in use. Some Android fans in the XDA Developers forum have also complained about these changes to the sound settings in Lollipop. If all else fails then you will have to let your computer be checked by a computer technician as the loss of sound may be an underlying symptom of something else. Now it doesn't share the IRQ with any other device, but the problem still persists. What codec, audio specifically, was used when the video was recorded? And that is on your SD card correct? I don't know what else can I do anymore. Make sure to thoroughly scan your computer for any malicious or harmful programs. But after windows reinstall, I installed the same nvidia driver and the problem was back. Ensure the App is Not Installed to SD Card Sometimes, apps will disappear if they are installed to the SD Card. The biggest complaint appears to be that the screen no longer lights up when you get an incoming notification like it did with silent mode. There are three modes to choose from: None, Priority, or All. What do I do. I would like to have my apps in my SD card but with shortcuts. If all cables are properly plugged in, you can try replacing the cable with another cable that you know is working. First of all to determine if the software you installed was the primary cause for the loss of your volume, try uninstalling first the program you had installed and restart your computer. After I did it a lot of the apps moved (not all of them) disappeared from the application list. It was working fine but I installed some new hardware and the sound has disappeared. This also means your screen won't light up when you receive a text or notification like it would have with the old silent mode. In the Event Viewer I found few of theese: The Creative Audio Service service depends on the Windows Audio service which failed to start because of the following error: The dependency service or group failed to start. So the questions: Is there anyway to recover the icons in application list other than reinstalling all apps? Can anyone give some hints on how to debug this thing? More generally, the old System Settings icon is missing in 11. I have the X-Fi Xtreme Gamer card. It dri'ves me crazy. In many cases, the Home screen will refresh and the icon(s) will return. Here are a few comments from a Reddit thread about the subject, which has more than 400 comments at the time of writing. I'm strugling with this for 2 months now. Before that I haven't had this issue at all. Your device may have a launcher that can set apps to be hidden. You're able to select stock notification thru settings but not the ones in your music folder? But a lot of times when the sound dissapears there is no such event. Give these steps a try. Is there anyway to avoid that? Make sure that the cable from your computer to your speakers is properly plugged in. So please, If anyone has any suggestion I'll very appreciate it! And I was convinced that my problem was solved when i rolled back to previous version, because after that everything worked well for weeks. So I placed the sound card in another PCI slot. The app name will differ depending on the device. Since this started to happen I reinstalled windows a couple of time, but the problem was back every time. Sent from my SCH-I510 Share Share this post on Digg Twitter Share on Facebook Reddit! I have Windows 7 x64 Ultimate, with the latest updates. The only thing I can remember is that I bought an SSD dri've. You can also choose to set your phone so that it automatically kicks into Priority Mode at a certain time every day. If volume still has not returned, update your sound card and if the problem is still not fixed then you can rule out the possibility of the program you had installed was the cause of the problem. From there, you might be able to unhide apps. The most common reason for this is that the cable from your computer to your speakers had been disconnected. Priority silences almost everything other than alarms and only allows certain notifications to come through. Just to get a better idea can you give us some more info? If you do not see "System Settings" on the menu, try right-clicking directly to the right of your username on the toolbar. The space in internal memory was just about to finish so I decided to move some apps to the SD card. Reset the Home Screen Launcher This step will reset your home screen completely and is only recommended if disappearing icons is a continuous problem. How do I asign a driver to make the speakers work?? But it is not expected that they disappear from the application list. I can see this in the console: I have no idea why I can't hear the sound even though it's saying 'Playing'. This sometimes occures after every 2 or 3 startups, but sometimes after 0th or so. The second thing I thought that is the reason is the NVIDIA driver. Also make sure that your sound system had not been put on mute. You essentially have three options, as Gigaom originally pointed out on Monday. Although the Priority and None settings sound similar to silent mode, some Android users have voiced their disapproval. The options will vary depending on your device or launcher app. The third option, All, allows all notifications to come through normally as its name implies. Thanks for your help! I don't think this is a problem with the SD card because the applications are still installed (I can see them in apps management).
